The purpose of the Basic Science Section (BSS) is to support and promote basic scientific efforts to understand the causes and complications of obesity and to identify mechanisms that lead to its prevention or cure. Scientists with interests in metabolism, neuroscience, genetics, immunology, molecular mechanisms, mathematical modeling, and any other pursuits that advance our basic understanding of obesity are welcome to attend this Section meeting.
The meeting will include:
- A keynote lecture by Richard Bergman, PhD from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
- Social networking will precede the keynote, providing a rare opportunity for busy professionals to interact and potentially initiate collaborations and for junior investigators to interact with more senior investigators.
- A business meeting, including poster awards, review of 2016-2017 activities, and request for suggestions for 2017-2018.
Maybe adipose, not liver, is the “seat of the soul”.
