The associations between excess body weight and increased risk of mortality at various ages of the lifespan have been reported. Multiple factors have been considered in light of these associations including weight variability, unintentional versus intentional weight loss and diet composition. This symposium will present evidence from experimental and observational studies about the relationships between obesity, dietary modifications and lifespan.
